Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This policy explains how I feel food ("we", "our", "us") handles consumer health data in the I feel food mobile app ("App"). It supplements our general Privacy Policy. Where the two differ about health data, this policy applies.
"Consumer health data" means personal information that is linked or reasonably linkable to you and that identifies your past, present or future physical or mental health status. For I feel food, that is the journal you keep in the App.
Health data we collect
You enter all of it yourself. We do not infer health conditions, and we do not collect health data from other apps, devices or data brokers.
- Hunger and fullness levels — the slider readings you record before and after a meal, on the App's shared 0–9 scale.
- Emotions — the feelings you select before and after a meal, and the feelings you note in a check-in.
- Meal notes and photos — free-text thoughts you write about a meal, the food items you list, and any photo you attach.
- Onboarding intents — the goals you pick when you set up the App (for example "notice emotional eating").
- Reflections — short notes you choose to write in response to a pattern the App shows you.
- Reminder and meal times — when you usually eat, if you turn reminders on.
Why we collect it
- To show your journal back to you: your entries, your week, and the patterns the App notices between how you felt and how you ate.
- To keep your journal in sync across your devices and restore it when you reinstall.
- To send the reminders you asked for.
- To measure, in aggregate, whether the App works: how many people finish onboarding, how often features are used, and where people get stuck. For this we use counts and broad categories, not your readings (see "What leaves your device").
We do not use your health data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks. We do not write it to Apple HealthKit, Google Health Connect or iCloud.
What leaves your device, and who receives it
| Recipient | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (our database and file hosting) | Your journal entries, photos, reflections and account email, encrypted in transit and at rest | Sync, backup and restore of your own journal |
| Amplitude and Firebase Analytics (product analytics) | Anonymised usage events: screens opened, buttons tapped, counts (for example "3 emotions selected"), broad categories ("hungry", "comfortable") and your onboarding intents. Never your slider readings, emotions, notes or photos | Understanding how the App is used, in aggregate |
| Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting) | Crash and error reports with a device identifier and App version. No journal content | Fixing crashes |
| RevenueCat (subscriptions) | Purchase and subscription status for I feel food+ | Unlocking what you paid for, on every device |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service | A device token so we can deliver your reminders | Reminders you turned on |
| Anthropic (voice entry parsing, only if you use voice entry) | The text of what you said, your recent food item names, your language, your local time and the meal you picked. Never audio | Organising what you said into the fields of the entry you are writing |
Each recipient processes this data under a contract that limits them to the purposes above. The full, field-by-field list of what each service receives is kept in the App's source code documentation and reviewed whenever an analytics event changes.
Voice entries
Voice entry is optional. When you use it:
- Your speech is turned into text on your phone, by your phone's own speech recognition. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere, by us or by anyone else.
- Only the text is sent, to Anthropic, so it can be organised into the fields of the entry you are writing (for example the meal, how hungry you were, and the foods you named). With the text we send your recent food item names, your language, your local time and the meal you picked, so the result fits your journal.
- We keep nothing beyond the entry you save. We do not store the text: the only thing we keep is the entry you review and save, like any entry you type. If you close the entry without saving, we keep nothing.
- What Anthropic does with the text. Anthropic processes the text as our service provider, under its commercial terms and data processing addendum. It does not use it to train its models. Like any provider of this kind, it may keep the text for a limited time under those terms, for example to detect abuse of its service, and then deletes it.
You can always type instead. The first time you use voice entry, the App explains this before anything is sent.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- See your data — everything you entered is visible in the App. Email us for an export.
- Correct it — open any entry and edit it.
- Delete it — delete a single entry in the App, or delete your whole account under Profile → Delete account. Account deletion removes your journal, photos and reflections from our servers and from our processors' systems within 30 days, apart from copies we are legally required to keep (for example purchase records).
- Withdraw consent — sign out or delete your account at any time. Reminders can be turned off under Settings → Reminders.
- Appeal — if we decline a request, reply to our decision and a different person will review it. Residents of Washington, Nevada and Connecticut may also contact their state attorney general.
Email hello@ifeelfood.co to make any of these requests. We answer within 45 days.
Consent
By creating an account you consent to the collection and sharing described above. We ask for separate, explicit consent before collecting health data for any purpose not listed here. We never ask for consent through a pre-ticked box or a design that makes declining harder than accepting.
Retention
Your journal is kept for as long as your account exists. Entries you delete are removed from our servers immediately and from backups within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated analytics (counts and categories that cannot be linked back to you) may be kept longer.
Children
The App is not for people under 13 and we do not knowingly collect health data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will post any change to this policy here and update the date above. If a change expands how we use or share health data, we will ask for your consent in the App before it applies to you.
